The Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA), includes many disclosure and reporting requirements. A disclosure requirement is information that a post secondary education institution is required to distribute or make available to another party, such as students or employees. A reporting requirement is information submitted to the U.S. Department of Education or other regulatory agencies. The following is a list of the information required to be made available to students as well as how to obtain the information. For your convenience, most of the general school notifications 
required by the Higher Education Amendments of 1986 has been satisfied within the most recent catalog available on this website. Admissions and Financial Aid Representatives are also available to discuss consumer information with current and prospective students, in addition to providing hard copies of all consumer disclosures upon request.

Copyright Infringement−Policies and Sanctions


Copyright infringement is the act of exercising, without permission or legal authority, one or more of the exclusive rights granted to the copyright owner under section 106 of the Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code). These rights include the rights to reproduce or distribute a copyrighted work. In the file-sharing context, downloading or uploading substantial parts of a copyrighted work without authority constitutes an infringement.
In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either actual damages or "statutory" damages affixed at not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For "willful" infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed. A court can, in its discretion, also assess costs and attorneys' fees. For details, see Title 17, United States Code, Sections 504, 505.
Willful copyright infringement can also result in criminal penalties, including imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to $250,000 per offense.


Computer Use and File Sharing-Policies and Sanctions  Shear Finesse Beauty Academy Computer Use and File Sharing Policy requires users of the school’s computer resources to comply with copyright laws. If you use a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) program on any school computer, network or other resource to upload or download copyrighted material without permission, you may be in breach of the Policy.  All users should generally assume that material is copyrighted unless they know otherwise, and not copy, download or distribute copyrighted material without permission unless the use does not exceed fair use as defined by the federal Copyright Act of 1976."

This policy also requires users of the school’s computer resources to engage in safe computing practices. P2P and file-sharing programs can introduce a serious security risk to your computer and other computers connected to the same network since they may result in files infected with computer viruses and spy-ware being downloaded to your computer and the network.

Violation of the Computer Use and File sharing Policy-Shear Finesse Beauty Academy policy prohibits unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, including unauthorized peer-to-peer file sharing.  Students who violate this policy are subject to discipline under Shear Finesse Beauty Student Conduct standards, outlined in the school’s catalog.

Student Right to Know

Gainful Employment Disclosures
The following links provide the gainful employment disclosures for applicable programs offered at Shear Finesse Beauty Academy. The disclosure includes the schools most recent placement data from its accrediting agency. The placement of the school's graduates is derived by the following definitions:


Graduate: A student who has completed all applicable academic and non-academic requirements, as defined by the institution’s graduation policy.  
Placement Rate: Of those graduates from the graduation cohort** who are eligible for placement, the percentage who were placed prior to November 30, 2020. (**
Based on all students scheduled to graduate from their program in 2020. Of those students scheduled to graduate in 2020, the percentage that actually graduated before November 30, 2020.
Eligible for Placement: A graduate from the graduation cohort is considered eligible for placement unless they meet one of the five exemptions detailed below: a. The graduate is deceased b. The graduate had a permanent or indefinite disability   c. The graduate was deployed for military service/duty d. The graduate studied under a student visa and is ineligible for employment in the U.S. e. The graduate continued his/her education at an institution under the same ownership.  
Placement: A graduate who is or has been employed in a field for which their training prepared them (i.e., in a position within the beauty and wellness industry that directly relates to their field of training) after graduation and prior to November 30, 2020.

Student Financial Assistance: Assistance Available From Federal, State, Local, and Institutional Programs 
Notification of Student Financial Assistance is provided in the school’s catalog, on the school’s website, and through the Financial Aid Office.

Students are informed of the laws concerning Federal Student Financial Aid Penalties for Drug Law Violations in the school catalog, on the school website, and during the annual dissemination of the Campus Security Policy and Procedures Handbook 

Initial Loan Counseling and Exit Counseling for Student Borrowers 
The Department of Education requires that any student receiving a Federal Family Educational Loan or a Direct Student Loan be notified concerning his/her loan. The school advises each student regarding loan indebtedness and requires the
 student to complete entrance and exit counseling online at (https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action) to make sure the student is well informed regarding their loans prior to acceptance and before the student graduates or withdraws from the school.

Health and Safety  
Notification of health and safety concerns are provided during Orientation and is made available on the school’s website. The Campus Security Policy and Procedures Manual is updated and made available each year by October 1.  

 
Voter Registration 
During orientation Shear Finesse Beauty Academy provides students information regarding the availability of voter registration forms.  Students are encouraged to visit the Duval County Supervisor of  Elections Website: http://www.duvalelections.com/ for voting  information and to obtain voter registration forms. Forms are also available on campus in school’s Admission Office located at  9200 Arlington Expressway,  Jacksonville, Fl 32225 and provided to students during orientation if a student prefers a paper voter registration form to mail-in.     Register to Vote Online
